Obituary for Jerry Michael "Mike" Johnson
Jerry Michael “Mike” Johnson, 73, of Grantsville, WV passed away on March 16, 2020 at his home following an extended illness.
He was born in Grantsville, WV on July 29, 1946, a son of the late Clark O’Dell and Ada Dell Hayhurst Johnson. Mike was a graduate of Calhoun County High School Class of 1964.
Mike is survived by his wife of 51 years, Catherine Lou Johnson; daughters, Stephanie (Cody) Stage of Spencer, WV and Gerri (Jeff) Johnson-Carter of Glen Dale, WV; granddaughter, Jaden Carter, and his beloved dog, Katy.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Harold Johnson, Forrest Johnson, and Joseph Johnson, all of Grantsville, WV.
Mike served in the US Army as a Combat Engineer and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from I.O.U.E. Local #132 where he was a 50-year member. Mike was a member of Linden Lodge No. 83, AF & AM, Order of Eastern Star, Grantsville Chapter No. 73, and the American Legion. He was also a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, Grantsville, WV.
