Marvin Dale Gainer passed away at his home on Christmas Day following a short illness. He was 92 years old and a 27-year resident of Mosheim, Tennessee.

Marvin was born February 5, 1927 in Nobe, West Virginia to the late Victor Earl and Alta Mae Gainer (nee Stull). He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon return from his service, he moved to Ohio gaining employment at Ford Motor Company until his retirement. Following his dream of returning to West Virginia, he moved back to Calhoun County where he enjoyed many years of deer hunting, carpentry, and gardening.

In 1991, Marvin, with his wife Joy, moved to Mosheim, Tennessee where they could enjoy family and many years of travel and hobbies together.

Marvin Dale was one of eleven children born to Victor and Alta. He was preceded in death by sisters Geneva, Reva, Lenore, Mary, and Odie, and brothers Garrett, Wendell, and Darrell.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Joy (nee Warner); daughters Connie Hess (Michael) and Debbie Gainer (Eric) of Ohio; sisters, Sue Richards of Ohio and Bertha “Midge” Hathaway of West Virginia; brother, Ronzel “Runt” of Kansas; and stepsons, Rayburn, Ronnie, and Roger, whom he loved as his own. He was the grandfather of 12, great-grandfather of 16, and had many nieces and nephews.

Marvin’s stepson, Robert Pinyan of Ohio, sadly precedes him in death.

Marvin was a member of the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church of Greenville, Tennessee. He was a man of tremendous faith and generosity. Always leading by example of service to others and following steadfast in his belief in the Lord and the love of his family. He stood as a pillar of strength and faith in God as the patriarch of his extended family.

Final arrangements provided by Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home of Greenville, TN and Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc. of Grantsville, West Virginia. A funeral service will be held at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Grantsville, WV on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Steve Raines officiating. Aunt Joy, family & friends. So sorry for your loss. I know uncle Marvin made it to his final resting place with YHWH God now Our true Heavenly FATHER. as Uncle Marvin would say one of his favorite "quotes from the Bible to be absent from this body is to be present with the LORD".
One if my fondest memories and such a blessing to see uncle Marvin dancing & rejoicing with God in church. How sweet to see how God'S Holy Spirit comes within people. God done the same through me and it was just a blessing to see another family member that had a love for God & let God have His way.
I would say uncle Marvin's favorite pastime was reading scripture going to church watching Christian gispels channels on the television with Ministry, preachers and gospel singing. He most loved in this world he truly loved & loves still my aunt Joy truly loves God. Always prayed. He prayed & prayed for others as well he was a good man that are very few & far between in this wirld. One of the best. I know he's up with God now happy rejoicing at the throne with the angels and the others that have gone before him so he will be sadly missed here one day I pray, we will all be up there with God praising God together. what a blessing it is to go home. I pray for sympathy, Comfort, peace, understanding. Warmth & true God's love & His presence to wrap around each & every one if us all that which all cometh with from God almighty. I pray for unity in the body of God, unity with family and friends with God too. I know this is a difficult time for many & letting go is hard to do but we have to be reassured that he is in a better place now. He crossed the finish line and he is safe at home now in God's arms. In safety & in the care of God.
God bless you all.
In love & prayers
Your niece & friend
