Obituary for Marvin Dale Gainer
Marvin Dale Gainer passed away at his home on Christmas Day following a short illness. He was 92 years old and a 27-year resident of Mosheim, Tennessee.
Marvin was born February 5, 1927 in Nobe, West Virginia to the late Victor Earl and Alta Mae Gainer (nee Stull). He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon return from his service, he moved to Ohio gaining employment at Ford Motor Company until his retirement. Following his dream of returning to West Virginia, he moved back to Calhoun County where he enjoyed many years of deer hunting, carpentry, and gardening.
In 1991, Marvin, with his wife Joy, moved to Mosheim, Tennessee where they could enjoy family and many years of travel and hobbies together.
Marvin Dale was one of eleven children born to Victor and Alta. He was preceded in death by sisters Geneva, Reva, Lenore, Mary, and Odie, and brothers Garrett, Wendell, and Darrell.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joy (nee Warner); daughters Connie Hess (Michael) and Debbie Gainer (Eric) of Ohio; sisters, Sue Richards of Ohio and Bertha “Midge” Hathaway of West Virginia; brother, Ronzel “Runt” of Kansas; and stepsons, Rayburn, Ronnie, and Roger, whom he loved as his own. He was the grandfather of 12, great-grandfather of 16, and had many nieces and nephews.
Marvin’s stepson, Robert Pinyan of Ohio, sadly precedes him in death.
Marvin was a member of the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church of Greenville, Tennessee. He was a man of tremendous faith and generosity. Always leading by example of service to others and following steadfast in his belief in the Lord and the love of his family. He stood as a pillar of strength and faith in God as the patriarch of his extended family.
Final arrangements provided by Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home of Greenville, TN and Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc. of Grantsville, West Virginia. A funeral service will be held at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Grantsville, WV on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Steve Raines officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Nobe Cemetery.
